Etude House Precious Mineral All Day Strong BB Cream #1 + Lady Oscar Gel Liner Review

Hello!

I recently got my first order from Adambeauty and bought two items from the Rose of Versailles makeup lines by KissMe and Creer Beaute. I'm a sucker for my overdramatic shoujo anime so... I couldn't resist. Look at beautiful Oscar.

Anyway, I've seen good reviews on all these products so I decided to give it a go. I'm not reviewing the mascara until I use up my current one, the Dolly Wink Long Mascara. Oh and I'm definitely going to try and order from Adambeauty more often-- great prices and shipping! (Even though the website is a pain to navigate.)

I also bought my first BB cream I've been eyeing off ebay, Etude House's Precious Mineral All Day Strong! So here's my review of the liner and BB cream.

Lady Oscar Impact & Cool Eyes gel liner in black

I love the frosted glass and gold print on the bottle and cap, feels so fancy and elegant~ "La Rose de Versailes" is wrapped around the bottle. I'm just a little bit of a fangirl.

It's a little smaller in comparison to Mac's Fluidline I used to use. That finally dried up so I hurriedly ordered this! The Fluidline was ancient (I stole it from my mom who never used it), but there was a ton of product left so I was reluctant to toss it after about a year of use. I liked the fluidline's staying power but there was so much left unused that I don't think I'll purchase again for the price.

The gel liner comes with a handy brush that works quite well!

Here's a better look at the brush. It's dense and soft and pretty good for applying the liner! Plastic handle, but what do you expect. I used it in today's look. Would I use it over my other liner brushes? Maybe!

I was a little surprised by the amount of product but now I think I'll actually get to use this all up.

I'm in love with this liner as a whole. I don't think this is waterproof as it washes off my hand pretty easily but that's the only negative I have to say about it. It goes on like butter, a little goes a long way, it is a true black, good amount of product, lovely packaging, cheap price, and comes with a nice brush!

So, to review.

Pros:

- Smooth, creamy consistency

- Deep black color

- Decent amount of product for price

- Love the packaging!

- Comes with usable brush

- Good deal!

Cons:

- Not waterproof

I give it a 9.5/10!

I purchased this on Adambeauty for HK85$. I recommend this to anyone looking for a decent gel liner that's not necessarily waterproof! Now I can have "Impact & Cool Eyes" like Oscar?

Etude House Precious Mineral All Day Strong BB Cream in #1 Sheer Silky Skin

My first BB Cream! I was really excited to get this when I finally ran out of my HG foundation, Lancome's Teint Idole. But... I ordered too late and would have to go foundation-less for a while so I ended up buying my Lancome too. OTL I'll be good on foundation for almost two years now haha.

This was an interesting experience. I was a bit hesitant to purchase this without trying so I bought some samples of it.... and was horrified. I tried the sample and was first shocked at how dark it was (for me), even though this is supposed to be light for a BB cream! (I use the lightest shade in Lancome.) I didn't like how wet the consistency was compared to my tinted moisturizer either. I was stubborn and attempted to use my kabuki stippling brush instead of fingers and my face just felt like this sticky mess. I put powder on top even and it just didn't have the mattifying power I look for for my oily skin. I was not a happy camper considering my BB cream was already on its way.

But I didn't want to go through the hassle of returning this, so I tried some things differently this time around, and I have to say I'm happy with this!

SPF30, claims UV Protection + Whitening + Anti-Wrinkle.

"Precious Mineral BB Cream promotes silky complexion and brightened look with pearl infused sheer coverage. Improved SPF protection with a hypoallergenic and oil-free formula."

I'm not quite so sure how much it lives up to its claims, but I'll tell you what it does do!

First thing I noticed was the COLOR.

Swatch time!

LOOK HOW DARK THIS IS. Maybe it's just me but this was pretty dark and not only that but surprisingly REDDISH-toned. I was expecting it to look more like my Lancome since it's geared towards asians but nope my Lancome is more yellow based than this BB Cream.

I took (somewhat shitty, sorry) comparison swatches between my Lancome and this BB Cream.

I was stupid and didn't notice the swatches were sitting on the blended out BB Cream but that's how it looks on my hand. Pretty pink, no? The swatch below is the Lancome Teinte Idol in Ivoire I, above it is the BB Cream.

See how much more suited to asian skin the Lancome is?

But of course with the magic of BB creams, it still blended in surprisingly well!

To take away the stickiness and help mattify my oily skin, I used a Smashbox primer all over my face instead of putting powder on top. I usually only prime my oily spots but because this BB cream isn't as matte as I'd like, I went and applied it to my whole face. I applied with my fingers instead of brush like last time and I think that's just what you need to do with BB creams. It did take a few pumps to cover my face but it has great coverage without looking cake-y! Voila! I am pleased!

Here is a gross flash shot of my face, without flash I just looked weirdly washed out. I wanted to show what this BB cream has in advantage over my tinted moisturizer foundation. What I like is that my skin looks more "glow-y" and natural but still has coverage for all my blemishes!

It does matte my face a bit, especially with the help of the primer, but not as well as my Lancome. Both have sanitary pumps, which I prefer! Oh, one thing I noticed was that this product has a flowery scent to it. I know some people don't like scented makeup so this may not be for you but honestly I don't see the big deal.

The verdict!

Pros:

- Oil-free formula, natural matte look

- Feels very light on face

- Good coverage

- No grey undertone

- Sanitary pump

- 60g of product!! (That's double what's in my Lancome!)

- Cheap!! (I paid about 18$ for 60g of product and samples!!)

Cons:

- Darker, redder-toned (But it blends well so)

- Not as matte as some may be looking for

- Perfumed scent, some may not like

- Need to use several pumps to cover face entirely

Would I purchase again?

Yes!

I mean, 60g of product for less than half that I pay for my Lancome Teint Idole.... how could I not. It does practically all the same things; matte, good coverage, feels light, same pump, almost want to say it looks more "natural"... and did I mention two times the product for less than half the price? My HG foundation has a runner up! Although I think next time I will try the original formula as it seems lighter, better in oil-control, and not as watery.

I recommend this to anyone who's looking for some oil-control and good coverage, probably best suited towards Caucasian skin tones.

I'm excited to try more BB creams some day!

This is basically my daily makeup look with a little darker lip and no falsies. I did this hurriedly, so next time, I want to take more dynamic and "better" pictures.
